A Rose For You

Hello lovely crafters. Hope all is well with you.

A different shaped card today.  I seem to be more interested these days in cards which are not the regular square or rectangle shape, so expect to see more!

The die (Studiolight Essentials)  did all the hard work for this card, I just layered up the different elements. I wanted to keep the rose theme running through the card and used an old magazine freebie die for the rose inside the card. I inked up the flowers with Victorian Velvet DI and embellished the butterflies which are from the paper pad (Sara Sig. Caring Thoughts) with some gems.

Here is the closed card. It wanted to spring open so I had to weigh it down with the paper pad and some scissors to take the pic! It does fold nice and flat and stands up very well too.

Celebrate

Hello lovely crafters. Hope all is well with you.

I love embossing folders but feel I don't use them enough. So I decided to have a little play and try some different techniques.

This 3D folder (Blooming Peony) from Lisa Horton is fast becoming my favourite. I was very impressed with the depth of embossing and decided to further highlight the flowers by going over them with a white Spectrum Noir pigment ink pad. I think this technique  brings even more life to the image.

I didn't want to cover up too much of the embossed area with a topper etc so I die cut a heart (MB)  and a sentiment (Poppystamps), layering each one several times for more dimension. I framed it all with Lisa Horton Stitched Scalloped Squares. It's hard to make out but the heart and sentiment are covered with Sparkle glitter pen and a couple of pearls finish it all off.

It's Spring

Hello lovely crafters. Hope all is well with you.

I've had this stamp for a while and now seemed the appropriate time to use it. Having said that, I don't think the poor seeds and plants in the garden know whether to start growing or not with all this wintry weather we've been having in the UK!

After stamping in Memento Cocoa on watercolour card, I decided to colour the image using my Inktense pencils. I love the bright intensity of colour these pencils give, which can then be muted with water.

I used paper from the same Craft Consortium Cottage Garden collection as the stamps and as well as the Gemini Inverted Scalloped Rectangles, I also used SW and Lisa Horton flower and leaf dies. A brush of Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen added some glitter.

Floral Posy - Lisa Horton

Hello lovely crafters. Hope all is well with you.

The colour challenge on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog caught my eye, especially as it includes my favourite colour turquoise.

I used the  Edgecutz dies from Lisa Horton to cut into my card. I inked onto another piece of card in turquoise and green DIs and stuck this behind.  I used the extra flower dies to cut more flowers - solid out of inked turquoise and navy cards and  outline from  gold mirri card. I finished with a few gem and pearl clusters.

If only there were real flowers in this colour, they would definitely be in my garden!

Other dies used: Carnation Crafts Shabby Stitched Rectangles
DP: Craft Sensations
DIs , gems and pearls

As You Like It - favourite season: it has to be spring.  Something to look forward to during the dark months and when it arrives, everything is bursting into life in fresh, vivid colours ( which tend to dull over summer).
